Life is an adventure. This our latest.

We purchased this home on March 20, 2012. Our intention is to fix it up and rent it or sell it.

As you can see it needs some help. We hope that what we do with it will improve its curb appeal, square footage and the overall flow of the interior.

The great part about this home is the fact that even though it was built in 1947 it was well kept and CLEAN!

This past week we have met with the carpenters about replacing the roof, adding a dormer, and changing the roof line on the garage. Everywhere we go we look at homes as we drive by trying to get an idea for a color scheme for the exterior. We are narrowing it down.

This week on Wednesday evening while Dean was at a school board meeting I began demo on the upstairs. We are taking it down to the rafters and studs upstairs. I removed 1960 style paneling from the walls and the insulation. Itchy, itchy, itchy.  The shower felt great when I got home.

Last evening we continued work upstairs. One of the major improvements we are making is moving the interior stairway to the upstairs. It is presently a widow maker. Very steep, narrow stairs. Dean began pulling up floorboards for the location of the new stairway.

We’re excited about the project and hope that we don’t end up on one of the home improvement shows like “Over Your Head”.  I will be posting more pictures of our project.

Can’t wait to see the finished product. Is the car included in the deal?

It is a work in progress for sure. Sorry, but the Vette is not included. We had to wait until we were 51 & 52 years old to afford our first Vette. It is a 2000 with 140,000 miles that we bought in Florida. Having lots of fun with it because we don’t have a huge amount invested in it.

What a great challenge! You can be creative! It really sounds like fun, the planning, that is. Then comes all that work. I hope you will keep us posted on the progress. Blessings to you…

Thanks Thomas…My husband just said the famous quote today…”Fools rush in where angels fear to tread” It may be a more ambitious project than we first thought but we are having fun working on it rather that the sedentary lifestyle of this winter.

The car in the driveway is also a work in progress.

BTW–I won an hour in a flight simulator and went this morning to do it. The plane was a Beech Baron I think. I “flew” for an hour and have even more respect for pilots. I don’t know how your do it! I made one successful landing (on the runway). Even taxiing was a challenge! But it was a lot of fun.

How fun Thomas. I haven’t been up flying lately but hope to do so soon. We have had our share of overcast days and when they are sunny they have been very windy. I hope I can take my Dad up for a flight sometime soon.

I had a lot of fun with my simulator while I was training.

How exciting, to be able to visualize and make those changes. Will enjoy seeing your work in progress. For me, the worst part is the mess that is made before it starts going back together. Enjoy!

We started out with a clean home this afternoon but after three hours of work we have quite a mess but did make some progress. I hope to keep up with the cleanup as we go because it is a much safer place to work and not as overwhelming. The planning and dreaming part has been fun so far but seeing things come together is exciting.

My husband said it is about time I move from watching home improvement shows into doing home improvement. We made a lot of progress this afternoon. Everyday is a little more exciting seeing the plans actually happening.
