Photo Challenge: Old Fashioned

10 Jul

This spring while we were attending one of the many graduation parties I saw this silo at a farm we were visiting.. I love the wooden shakes for the roof, the window and the vines covering the top. In our part of the country most silos are a combination of cement and metal so this is a unique find.

That’s gorgeous, Jeanne! I’ve never seen a silo like that!

Thanks Wendy. It’s the first silo that I’ve seen like it too.

Looks like something out of Hansel and Gretel. 😀

It does have a fairy tale look about it for sure.

I would have never guessed that’s a silo. I would have thought an old cottage from your photo. Thanks for sharing.

I should have tried to get a shot of the entire silo instead of just the top but that was the part that intrigued me the most.

    That’s beautiful–seems like a secret tower…

Perhaps there is a princess locked inside.

Have never seen that either. I like the window, broken panes and all.

I should get back out there and get some full height shots of the silo before it is gone. So many of the old barns and silos are going down or in disrepair.

You did an excellent job of creating a photograph to match the description “old-fashioned.” Other commenters have mentioned fairy tales and princesses, but I suspect you’ll confirm that the inside was pretty creepy, if you even dared to venture inside at all.

Thanks Steve. I didn’t venture into the old silo but I’ve been in a few old barns and you are correct, they can be pretty creepy depending on the time of day and the number of rodents moving about and birds above.

Spooky…That’s exactly what I thought about it. I could imagine it being featured in a scary movie surrounded by lightning, thunder, wind and rain. Thanks for stopping by Brittany!
