Tuesday’s With Jack

04 May

For the past nine months I have been taking care of my grandson Jack on Tuesdays while my daughter attends college.  It is so much fun to watch his excitement as he discovers something new.  Today there were squeals of delight from him as he managed to stand for the first time next to his toy.  Today is the last Tuesday until next fall when classes resume.  Tuesdays will not seem the same while I am at work.

He loves laptop computers and heads for his mom’s laptop when ever he sees it within reach.  Today as I was typing on the laptop he tried to bite it with his new found teeth.  If he manages to get to the keyboard he pounds on it and giggles.  His mom has been very protective of her laptop this past week with it being finals week at college, not wanting to lose any of her classwork to his wild attacks on her computer.

Each morning as I watch him there is always something he finds delight in.  He will examine it from all angles and get it as close to his face as possible.  He knows the difference between the remote that we use for the TV and one we no longer need.  He only wants the one that we use,  he’s not impressed with substitutes.  He loves to walk around the house kicking a ball in front of him as he goes holding onto the fingers of anyone who will walk with him.

You truly are blessed to be part of his life and I hope that continues forever – I’ve missed so much by not seeing our grandchildren very often. We love it when we see them, but they don’t know us all that well, except for Bode and Brianna. And Asher sees us so rarely, he holds back when they come to visit, maybe 3 times a year! Enjoy Jack!

I truly feel blessed to be apart of his life. He is the life in our home these days. He’s the reason my children come home every weekend. My husband is actually ready to leave work earlier than usual to check up on Jack and spend some time each evening to play ball with him.
